Best I could get - she got excitable when I tried to video tape, it seems the left leg trembles more than the right and it's more noticeable when not walking actually but could get her to stand still
I will attempt to video it today, I am feeding unmedicated chick feed. I hatch 10-20 bantam cochin chicks every year using broody mommas - I currently have three others from this hatch and they are all doing well. This one as I said has been in a separate area so as not to get pecked on but...
I have a chick apx 8 weeks old, at 5-6 weeks of age I noticed it wasn't walking and getting around like the others were, I separated the chick and quite frankly didn't expect it to make it, but it is still eating and drinking and thriving actually except that it shakes when it walks, I wouldn't...
I have 3 momma hens with 8 chicks, 5 chicks are older (4 weeks) and 3 are younger almost 2 weeks. The momma with the 5 older chicks is mean to the other two (one has 2 chicks one momma has only 1) then this morning I noticed the two with the younger chicks were fighting? I keep them in the same...
I am having similar issues with momma hens pecking on chicks and other momma hens...its really hard to know when to intervene and when to let them hash it out? It seems so brutal??
I just did this and this was my biggest concern because as you stated they were older, but this is true, when they need to eat they will come out and she will respond...as long as she has accepted them and not pecking all is well!
Medicated feed is NOT good for ducks, if they are eating that feed too your should switch immediately to NON-Medicated food!
Could be repository issue, use straw instead of shavings as bedding and that may help!
I have a situation where 5 of my bantam hens went broody at the same time...the first two were setting on 9 eggs between them and turned out only 1 was viable and hatched. The same day that hatched I was able to get 4 newly hatched bantams and placed them under the hens and they took to them...
I will say the Orpington Roosters develop a lot slower than any other rooster I have had, mine didn't start crowing until I had already determined they were roosters like 5 months old or more...and if it's lavender even the coloring doesn't help to determine. post a pic or just wait it out!
Sorry the pictures are blurry I had to use my iphone and zoom in and I was in a rush...
Here is the one I know to be a Hen and she is two weeks older than these two.
And here they are all together.
Would you be able to tell if a LO is a roo or not by 4 months? I bought two LO straight run that were hatched mid May, by mid June I was worried they were both roos and I was hoping for at least one of each, so I found a lavender pullet from another breeder who was 2 weeks older and a definite...
