    Wow - thanks for all the replies and advice. Here's another thing I just found out. If you let them sit in the hot water for 3-5 minutes you will have soft boiled eggs. The time varies by how soft - or how cooked - you want them. I found 3 minutes to be too soft. I'll try 4 minutes next...

    Just learned a good way to hard boil eggs - yeah really!

    I always used to boil the heck out of an egg to get it hard boiled. Now I cover it with cold water, bring it to a boil, turn off the heat, and leave it covered in the hot water for 15 minutes and it's perfect. Not rubbery anymore. Just thought I'd pass this along.
