This is Olive, my Olive Egger, on top of a shed in the midst of a huge burning bush - a bush that turns pink instead of scarlet in the fall because of all the shade we have in the yard!

I used to use the coarse flakes, but since I use deep litter method (esp during winter), I find that the finer flakes break down better.

I know it's not glamorous or exciting, but my chickens go through poultry grit, and I need more!

In August, I bought one of these two-gallon heavy-duty galvanized steel waterer for my 13 chickens. Love how it works. I admit that I had another one just like it for 10 years. Eventually it rusted inside, and the water would be rust colored and probably not too tasty - but the thing still...

And one more: This is Chirpy, a baby robin my daughter rescued and raised to adulthood.

We need to schedule an appoint ASAP!!! ;)

Ha ha - this is one of the horses at the stable where my daughter took horseback riding lessons. We learned how to make them "laugh." 😁
