    Help! Scaly leg??

Hi there, My Silkie rooster (“Poof daddy”) has fallen ill again for some reason! The flock just recovered for coccidiosis. Poof daddy was hit hard and was in the chicken hospital (our house) for 4 days. He made a recovery. Two days ago I noticed him being lethargic and hunched over again...

Help, my hen has a swollen, prolapsed vent!

Oh no.. 😢 are you sure she doesn’t have coccidiosis? My other chicken who had it at the same time as my hen was very lethargic and wouldn’t eat/drink so I had to use the dropper. Then hen with the prolapse was eating/drinking throughout and was still quite active despite her vent protruding...

Help, my hen has a swollen, prolapsed vent!

I’m so sorry your hen is Ill. It’s awful seeing them that way.. I’m no expert with this stuff.. but when my hens have been sluggish to eat/drink when they are lethargic I’ve had to mix feed in water to soften it and use a dropper to put it inside her beak. Also doing the same with Gatorade or...

Should I take newborn chicks away from broody hen?

Hi there, The one that had difficulty hatching over 24hrs I helped hatch in the end last friday night. Then placed him under mom and he did well, got fluffy and such. So she had 4 healthy chicks. Both mom and chicks had access to water and and chick feed. Then yesterday afternoon I noticed that...

Should I take newborn chicks away from broody hen?

Hi everyone, I’m am so sad to say, we have had two chick deaths. I am not sure why.. I’m thinking the mother is smothering them by accident. They have access to food and water and the temperature isn’t an issue because I moved the family inside the house to keep an eye on them after I found the...

Should I take newborn chicks away from broody hen?

Thank you everyone! I have placed the chick back with mom. So she has three babies and one on the way. I have her in the laying box with food and water and will keep an eye on them. I placed a box in front so the chicks won’t flop out.

Should I take newborn chicks away from broody hen?

Thank you! Do you think I should bring the mom and all chicks and put them all in the brooder indoors to keep an eye on them and make sure they are warm? She’s in a laying box which is higher than the ground so I’m just worried that a chick may flop out and not be able to get back in

Should I take newborn chicks away from broody hen?

Hi there! I have four eggs under my Silkie naked neck hen. I have her in the laying box and put a separating wall away from the rest of the flock. She hatched one yesterday and I moved the chick to a brooder box inside. Now she has hatched two more, so one more egg to hatch. I have read that...

    Help!! Prolapse??

Hi there, So my hen unfortunately prolapsed right after this. It is a rectal prolapse not reproductive. I can keep it in despite epsom salt baths, preparation h, etc. she pushes it out right away. At this point I believe she feels more comfortable with it out than pushed back in 😓. It’s been 7...
