I thought blue's were blue laced... A blue Amerucana should have darker blue lacing on the feathers.... I'm working on a blue laced gold personally. This a closeup on one of the boys wings.. Still have a ways to go, but... His dad was gorgeous!
I think you have two girls... Once in a great while you might get two eggs but in general poultry produce one egg a day. If you have pictures that would help us tell you (yes separating them will also tell you) also listen to them if they both give a clear quack they are both girls...(boys are...
I've had Cayuga's for a while... good ones lay black <then grey and down to white as the season goes) or they start grey.... or hatchery onces may even start as white... never seen anyother color from a cayuga.... but it could be a mixed bird (I've had pekin cayuga mixes... they looked like...
That makes me feel better... On another post some of the peoe acted like they were just too old to lay (my girls are between 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 so that isn't the reason) and other where asking if I'd had any stress on the flock... Again nope... Last summer/fall a dog (our own) got after the ducks...
I've got room in the incubator (and would grab those Anconas)but none of my ducks are laying.. They are molting?! After they molted this fall!(well most of them did) and I only have chickens... Maybe some jewelry stuff.. I'd have to look.
Not that I can think of... I was hoping I'd just somehow missed hearing that they occasionally molt in spring (I think only one drake hasn't molted) let's hope they finish quick and skip it this fall!
I know they slow down but the oldest ones are just two. I have friends with ducks that are six and still laying though less.... I don't add lights so it's not like I'm forcing them to over produce. I've just never had ducks molt like this in Spring (especially when they had a full moot just a...
These guys are all at least two years old(some two and a half) and I'm used to the minimolts but this is full blow like they did in the fall. I have Perkins, Cayuga and Welsh harliquins and all breeds are doing it. I barely have any duck eggs this year and the last year I was nearly over run...
Okay, I have five hens of laying age and have gotten no eggs. I'm in east Texas and the suckers are molting!! They did that last fall! (Actually started in like July gave me some eggs in feb.... Then began to slow up and now none! Even the drakes are starting to molt what gives?!
I want to try to get some pictures where his color shows better (cause good lord this boy is full of color!) but here is a start... I'll replace if I can get the good camera out and get better results.... There were with my cell phone last night!
Name: doesn't have one.. We call him the pretty...
