    Male or female?

Good Day I am a very confused goose owner. I have 2 geese, both 11 months old, but I have no idea what specie or gender I have. I must have at least one female as I had 18 eggs so far, but the first liot the one called Lilly sat on, and now the second lot, both geese take turns to sit on...

Female Geese Trying to Mate with Each Other

We checked the eggs. Six of them were rotten. Two of them were fine. So we had our first goose eggs. Yummy! But we now have a new problem. Some more eggs appeared, and now both the geese sit on the eggs. Most of the time the male??? sits on the eggs, but some times we find him grazing...

Female Geese Trying to Mate with Each Other

Hi I have since found out that I have a male and female. The female sat on 8 eggs for about 25 days, then she left the nest and now only sit on the eggs at night! So no goslings for us this year. Is this because she is only one year old, or is it because we have 3x small dogs who went to the...

    Overly attached goose :)

I fence off the stoep, but when I do that, they stand and wait for me to let them on the stoep. They will stand there for an hour, waiting for me to open the stoep. I feel so sorry for them standing and not realaxing, that I give in and open the stoep. Hosing again the next day. As you say -...

Geese breeds (eggs, and egg laying)

I have domesticated Graylags. The thing is that the egg-like shape at the bottom wasn't there before. It only appeared last week (after the female has laid an egg. Now I might have 2x egg layers!

    Overly attached goose :)

My 2x geese (one female and one not sure) follow us like that - flying as high as 6 feet when my son runs accross the yard. We love it when they do that. But they are also very attached to us and stay close to the house. Sleeping on the veranda at night. (I wish I could find a way to get them...

Geese breeds (eggs, and egg laying)

Milo is more aggressive than lily - our female goose. Which is why I always thought he would be a male. He does come in between us and the female with the low neck movement. I have never listened for his voice seperately. They are always together. But why has he got an egg-like shape at the...

Geese breeds (eggs, and egg laying)

I am still not 100% sure if I have 2x females or 1x male and 1x female goose. Can I leave the eggs in the nests, or must I collect them if I only have females? Won't she be sitting on them forever while waiting for the eggs to hatch?

Female Geese Trying to Mate with Each Other

I have 2 Greylags, both under one year old. They started "mating" with the same one always on top. Lily, the assumed female, layed an egg a week ago, and we were anxiously awaiting the next egg. We could clearly see an egg-like bump at the bottom of her tummy. But much to our surprise, we...
