I hatched two extra roosters this year. I do not have the space or flock size to support them. I'm hoping someone in the Tully, NY / Syracuse, NY area may be interested in taking them. They are about 4 months old and this far have shown no aggression.
I do not but that's a good idea for a consideration Right now I have them all free ranging in two separate areas (the main flock in one and the bullied bird in a different) they both have there own food and water dishes as well as trees, shade, sun, and plenty of grass to roam around in. I am...
Hey everyone, I did some searching on here and could not really find the situation I am having. I have 7 birds (6 hens and a rooster) The coop they are in currently is almost 200sqft and the outdoor run is a little larger. One of my oldest hens (3 years old) the last couple weeks has started...
You hit on one of the key issues I have with the little guys is that they just squeeze through the fencing I have on the run (I converted an old dog run into a run with chicken wire and chain link which works really well for everyone but the chicks). Last year I was able to just let everyone...
Good morning everyone,
After two years of free ranging our chickens with no predator issues, a local fox has finally realized they are here and has taken all but 3 of our hens. We are looking at installing some electric poultry netting because we have heard great things about it but my concern...
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I couldn't not find it through my potentially bad searching: We got our first egg yesterday which was incredibly exciting. It was also in the nesting box and not the floor which is even more exciting! We have about 2 inch of bedding in the box but they...
We have a beautiful 16 week old rooster in need of a new home. He has so far been friendly with both humans and other chickens. Only reason he is being re homed is that we ended up with two roosters and already promised the one he could stay. We are located just south of Syracuse, NY but can...
This bird grew a fairly large comb at 8 weeks or so. It remained pale until this week (now 15 weeks old). The black rooster in the photo is the same age but had a deep red comb for a while now.
This little one is about 12 weeks old. He has almost no comb whatsoever but his tail feathers are a mess and I swear he has some iridescence in his feathers. Three of good siblings have large dark red combs and waddles and were easy to identify but we are struggling with this one.
