My rooster did something like this yesterday. He wouldn't let the hens in though. He kept looking around in there and making purring like noises. I'm wondering if he was checking for spiders. Anyway when he finished his inspection, he let the hens in to lay.
I moved mine out at 5-6 weeks old. They were mostly feathered and trying to fly out of their brooder. They had had a few field trips to the back yard during the day already. ( Which they loved) I live in a colder climate and they did fine. Lowest degree probably around 36. No heat in coop
Pictures? I'm a visual person and in the midst of designing my first coop. I love all the ideas I'm getting here, if you can I'd love to see your coop!
So, what I'm imagining is that the pen/run wouldn't go to the ceiling of the porch but be hardware cloth on top and 3 sides with a wood wind- breaker on the north side.
