hello,
two little boys around 8 years old came to my back door yesterday with a baby chick that might be a few days old at most.
I put it in a bird cage in my kitchen last night, but now I don't know what to do with it. It peeps non-stop except if I hold it. I do have crumbled tiny chicken food...
Last update:
Let the chicken out today... it seems much better. It uses both legs, but I do see it limp from time to time. The other birds went up into the tree just before sunset, but I didn't see her go up.... but I have looked and looked all around the yard, so I assume she found a spot to...
Here's an update: I let her out of the coop yesterday and while she is not healed up completely, she is doing better. She can sit up now instead of just laying with her legs out straight beside her... she can hop around better... but she still flops around too. I let her out because the rooster...
Well... I don't know what happened to it. No one comes in my yard and it certainly wasn't any cruelty from my daughter and me. We do have an occasional raccoon in the neighborhood, but haven't seen one of those in maybe three years.
It was just laying under the tree hurt when we came out in the...
Thank you so much for your help. There is so much to read that I hardly know where to start. This is the first chicken that I have ever touched or held in my life so ... I really don't know what is normal or not, but will look closer at it later this afternoon. I bought some chicken feed at the...

Geez. I've been scaring away a raccoon from my backyard for over a week now, but tonight it came into my yard (right after I locked one hen and two baby chicks into the coop), and the raccoon had 3 baby coons with it. They ate some bird food that I had put out in the yard and drank some water...
Hello Chicken-friends,
I have a long awaited update for you. My brown hen came back...and she laid 10 eggs and 8 hatched! I've been so happy watching them and trying to do right by them, but now she has lost 2 baby chicks in as many days and now I am keeping them locked inside the coop until...
Wow. Thank you so very much for all of this good information. I'll look to buy that All Flock over the weekend. I bought the Scratch because I really didn't know what else to buy at the store. Much of what they had seemed to be for new baby chicks. (guess I'll buy a bit of that too so it will be...
