    Confirmed Marek's flock, what now

Hi, We just got our pcr test results back that we have Marek's in our chickens. We have a large mixed flock of 100 plus birds including chickens, geese, ducks. I'm just trying to figure out what I can do now. I won't sell any of the birds anymore, but can I still sell hatching eggs? Does...

    Lice killing chickens?

She just passed. Think I'm going to attempt a necropsy to see what else was going on. For the elector psp, I sprayed it on her and I did see a bunch of dead lice this morning, none were moving. I think she may have just started laying recently, but I have a bunch of pullets and wasn't sure...

    Lice killing chickens?

I couldn't get a good picture of them, but they're definitely lice: yellowish, oblong, and fast. I've had mites before and these are bigger. I haven't seen any sign of mites this year, but I keep a close eye out for them since we had a bad infestation 2 years ago that killed a bunch of chicks.

    Lice killing chickens?

Do lice infestations often kill chickens? I'm getting mixed answers online. I have a chicken right now who has lice on her so I brought her inside and treated her with elector psp yesterday. Today she's very lethargic and barely moves when I touch her and won't eat or drink. I tried...

    Graphic, autopsied chicken growth

If I'd been thinking I would have taken more pictures, but no didn't get a picture of the rest of the insides. It was about the size of my fist, and not firmly attached to anything else. Also forgot to add that there wasn't any visible developing eggs, so my best guess is that this was an...

    Graphic, autopsied chicken growth

Hello, I had one of my 1 year old hens that we found laying down and breathing hard. By the time we got her inside she died. Decided to cut her open to see what was going on. First off, there was a ton of blood in the body cavity, it made it hard to see anything till I pulled it all out...

    Mareks?

No they are ones we hatched this year. Have 14 from that batch and so far it's just been the 2. Although we did have 3 other pullets die a few months ago, but I'm pretty sure that was coccidiosis. All the adult birds seem fine. I just really don't want it to be Marek's 😢

    Mareks?

Hi, Wondering if anyone else has run into this. I've had 2 pullets from the same batch/parents now get ill and I'm trying to figure out what's going on. They were about 15 weeks old. The first seemed like an injury, as one day it just stopped being able to walk, and although we kept in...

    Fencing a large area

That looks awesome. Which net is it? It looks different than the premier1 nets I was looking at

    Fencing a large area

We have a bunch of birds that are all used to free ranging: 100 chickens, geese, turkeys, ducks. Lately we've had a fox family that keeps killing them in the day (they're locked up tight at night). So we need a fence, but want something affordable for a large area, probably about a half an...

    Best identifier?

Pretty sure it was these. They are small because I originally bought them for the chickens https://a.co/d/cxqRDGO

    Best identifier?

They're all adults. Just looking for a better way to mark my breeding geese from the teenagers, cause they're starting to look the same unless I grab them all and weigh them

    Best identifier?

Hi, I'm wondering what everyone uses to keep track of their geese. I tried some colorful thin zip ties and they got them off within a week. Wondering if there's a good leg band I can buy, or if I just need to buy thicker zip ties?

    Failure to thrive

Yeah, I have been less than impressed with it. Although still doing better than the moms, because they are completely hopeless and like to abandon huge nests after sitting on them for 2 weeks. Which incubator do you prefer for geese?
