    Bobwhite chick died :(

    Thank you so much. Another baby died in my hand today after I found her laying crying under the heater :(:( I found diarrhea, so I think maybe she got sick from contamination. I clean the brooder daily, but they keep pooping in their food and water :(

    My week old bobwhite is constipated so much that her colon is sticking out. She tries to poop, but its painful for her and nothing comes out. What can I do to help her?

    I see now. Birth defect... Her wing bone was still attached to her torso. She must have been flapping it, weakening it until it snapped the wrong way. RIP little bird <3

    I came to refill their food, and give fresh bedding. I thought a chick was asleep, but when I grabbed her, she didn't move :(:( I am not sur if she was pecked and this is blood or what it could be. I'm so sad. My students just named our quail babies on Friday. Does anyone have any idea what...

    Incubator only goes up to 98.4

    Here is my little incubator. It did well hatching ducks last year. When I walked into school this morning, the incubator was up to 37.2° C. Close enough :) so my little eggs are being warmed.     Incubator only goes up to 98.4

    I live in Chicago. Its 72-78° in my classroom (ac kicks on at 78). I have a very small incubator. I'll post pics tomorrow, and I'll try the towel trick @feedman77 thank you. Thanks for your help, everybody! <3<3

    The incubator says 38°C (the highest it will go) The inside thermometers (I have both digital and mercury) both say 36.9 (98.4°F).

    I just got Bobwhite eggs to hatch with my first graders. We have hatched ducks and chicken in the past. Anyway, my incubator is only going up to 98.4°. Bobwhite eggs need 99.5 from everything I read. Is it okay to incubate at this somewhat lower temperature, or should I invest in a new incubator?
