Yes she will for the first few weeks, mummy will tend to leave them about 6-8 weeks,
As long as she and the chicks have plenty of room away from the main flock and somewhere safe to bolt to it should be ok.
However and it's a big however prepared to lose some chick, undoubtedly one or two will...
No I would wait for a few hours yet, it takes about 4 hrs for them to fluff up, they have enough food for 3 day from the yolk they absorbed before hatch, if you move them too soon you may risk the others waiting to hatch, try not to open the bator if you can help it
Gratz on your hatch, told you not to panic, the condensation is the extra humidity created by the eggs opening so don't panick. It should settle and by the time you get to school the three that have hatched should be nice and fluffy
The temp was bob on, I guess you have 24hours of waiting before you see some action.
Can't stress enough don't panic and don't open the bator, I know it's really difficult but it's best not to mess., let us know how you get on! Go to bed and when you wake up you will more than likely have some...
Good day 20 is a little early to pip, but not a problem, they can take 20 mins from pip to hatch or 24 hours, dependent on the chick .
Most hatch within 4 hours of pip, but don't get panicked if they take a little longer.
All chicks are different some pip and then start zipping immediately some...
Sorry after re reding an earlier post it sounds if you have already opened an egg. If you get a ear bud and dip it in WARM water and place of on the membrane. If you see red veins, pop it back in the bator with a damp paper towel over it and leave it be.
The veins showing mean it is still...
It's hard to say as you haven't told us much, it seems you are doing fine, keep the humidity up, DON'T fiddle with them or open the shell etc,
Are they overdue? Are they pipping? How long have they been pipping, did u open the eggs etc, what's ur bator and humidity at.
,Not sure what you Re actually asking, have ou opened the Ir sac part of the egg early? If the membrane is going yellow it is drying out, place a wet paper towel over the end of the egg and don't be tempted to fiddle. Use warm water for the paper towel 37 degrees ish or you will cause more...
Hi all, I've checked all the threads but do not really see the solution to my problem so any help would be appreciated.
I've been using a suro 20 with a reasonable hatch rate of 80% and I decided I wanted to up the amount of eggs I wanted to hatch, I couldn't afford the £600 ish for a suro 50 so...
I know this is an old thread, but I thought I would put in some input for any future readers.
I live on a small island so unfortunately most of my eggs are shipped, until I hatch enough for my own eggs. The horseshoe air sac above is none viable, if it does develop the chick will be small and...
Hello all and thanks for your responses.
I have for the first time decided to create a hybrid,
I have crossed a pure white leghorn hen with a blue French maran and was wondering what the outcome will be.
I love the amount of eggs of the leghorn but they Are to flighty to handle for me.
I love...
