    Hi everyone. I don't know how Swap Meets work but I was wondering if there are farmers that will have baby chicks available on February 8th and do they sell to the general public? Not sure if this is too early for that. Is a Swap Meet similar to a glorified yard sale, of course in this case...
  3. I'm so proud...one my girl's first egg. I believe it was one of the Buff Orpingtons. The other day she was running around the yard squawking like a nut then would run back to the inside of the coup and squawk like crazy there. I went to check and see if she had layed the egg then, but hadn't. The funny thing is these chicks are only 4 3/4 months old. It's still a little early for them to be laying. Usually they lay between the ages of 5 and 6 months old. Soon I will start feeding them layer feed and calcium to keep them from depleting the calcium in their bones.

    Hello to all and happy Tuesday. Anybody know whether or not you can feed chickens slightly soured watermelon? My chickies love watermelon but not sure if it's safe for them to eat soured watermelon. I have half a one that had gone sour before we finished it. Any thoughts?
