Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Afraid to ask...but the time has come. My first 4 chicks are now nearly 7 weeks old and while I am positive the RIR is a pullet my EE's are confusing me. Any guesse's or opinions would be most welcome =-) Chick 1 - Sparrow, from what I've read she's a typical pullet color..but she has also...

has anyone ever tried to breed a PURPLE chicken

I've been wondering about that, since hatchery's are less strict about culling birds with what's considered a fault..like the purple sheen and breeders have been working for quite a while to eradicate it...wouldn't that mean that for this particular project hatchery stock be easier to start out...

    hard decision HELP! (mouse)

Most small rodents and such are put to sleep in gas chambers, it's fairly peaceful to see - certainty less traumatic then breaking a neck or cutting off a head, quick and pretty easy to build and use. http://www.alysion.org/euthanasia/

Please supervise your children around the family pet...

The really sad thing I that the kids and the animals tend to suffer because of the adults mistakes - like the case o the ferret...for the ferret to have had time to eat the kids fingers he must have been there a while, that not something they can do in the blink of any eye and the kid was likely...

Interesting Goat kid question/surprise **GRAPHIC PICS PG4**

Goats make great pets =-)I adored mine and if I lived somewhere I could have one I most certainly would, my father used to joke that the goat was a better babysitter for me and my little brother then anyone he could hire as she was always following us about and keeping an eye out. I don't...

Interesting Goat kid question/surprise **GRAPHIC PICS PG4**

My 4-H leader had one born like this once unfortunately she also sent it off to freezer camp so I couldn't tell you if it could have developed problems or not as it got older..but if yours is growing and you only wanted it as a pet with no interest in breeding then as long as it's healthy and...

Thinking of adding goats to the farm... fainting goat?

Toggenburgs! My champion 4-H doe was a Toggenburg, they are good medium sized dairy goats. Mine had a wonder disposition and was really easy to work with, shave..train to stand etc...heck we used to take her to the beach and she'd swim in the water and walk on a leash just like a dog. Loved that...

My $60 dollar colt -May walk away from this opinions PLS!!

you might be able to help the swayed back some by doing 'back lifts' to help build up the muscles, I did it with a mare I used to own at the recommendation of an Equine chiropractor and it really helped..you just take the tips of your fingers of a comb and run it under the belly so that they...

    My husband thinks I'm crazy...

But I've decided I want some chickens. We're in a small rural community in Lowndes county Georgia right outside Valdosta and we're still in the 'gathering materials' stage of building our coop as I want to use as much reclaimed wood and materials as I can to save on costs. We have a fairly good...
