Hi all from just east of Newton and soon to be an industrial park!
I have been building new chicken housing for my spring chicks! I hatched some and then bought some others when all the eggs I had in the incubator didn't hatch. Most of them weren't fertile. Anyway, I have a Serema roo (a...
Update on the logistics park. We became aware of the expansion late last summer/early autumn when there was an auction going on 1/2 mile west of our property. The city bought the farm land to expand the existing industrial area. The owner of the property was told everyone around him had...
The city of Newton, Kansas is buying up all the farmland southeast of the city to lure in businesses, manufacturing businesses. They are calling it a Logistics Park. To make a long story short we are finding ourselves about to be annexed by the city. Farmers and the few folks that live out...
Thanks for the e-mail. My ladies looked just like your golden EE. I will have to work this weekend. Hubby has family he is taking to KC and back so NO CHICKEN taxi available. It wasn't meant to be. Thank you though.

I have not cried so much since I was a little...
I have 18 Ameraucana eggs in the incubator that should hatch next Tuesday. If you are interested in chicks and not just hens I can help you out. I live just outside of Newton.
Your humidity will increase if you increase the area that is holding the water. You can try for a foil pan that is inexpensive from a grocery store or bend one into shape using heavy duty foil. We tried this for our home-made incubator and it worked very well. Good luck.
I was wondering about the silkie/ee cross. Her? legs are black and the bottoms are yellow. I have been waiting to see if her legs turn green but they are staying black. The picture does give them a greenish tinge against the blue pants background. Thanks for your guesses!
