    I’m feeding purina start and grow. When they are outside they have access to dirt and everything in their little enclosure. Their poop always look more normal in the morning and worse like that when they are outside. They sleep inside currently at night.

    Thanks! I can’t keep a rooster because a current hen I have just got battered by a rooster at her previous home and I said she never had to deal with that again so I am really hoping for two hens! 🤞

    What chicken breed are these? Supposedly they are bantams. Frizzle and Cochin mixes. Do they seem big for bantams?

    I really don’t think her friend is plucking anything out. I have not seen any of that behavior. They do not have any artificial lighting. They have a coop they only use to sleep in and are outside in a pasture the rest of the day.

    Thank you for the info! What feed are you giving that’s 20% protein? 31 months and have not done their first full molt? I thought they did it much sooner. I just feel bad that she might be like this the whole winter! So many feathers gone.

    It really doesn’t look like her friend is pulling any out. We live in the PNW so I would think that she would have started molting by now. It just looked the same since June.

    I do not. But I think she is at least 1.5 years old, maybe close to 2.

    It could take a whole year? That’s crazy! Is a 19% feed going to mess with the other chicken that does not need to grow back feathers?
