How many dewlaps can fit into a kiddie pool?...7... :)
Sorry been out for awhile, started new job so had to sell all my birds but I kept my dewlaps...just can't part with my babies. All my buff dewlaps are females, was hoping to add a male and extra babies but it just never worked out. All...
I just think these are very cool birds. Everyone keeps saying they are aggressive but mine eat out of my hands. I also have them with my black-bellied whistlers and they all seem to get along fine.
My greys dewlaps seem to be growing fast but my one buff is growing slow. I just love the Toulouse breed so switching to the dewlaps was a no brainer for me. I have one that knocks on my door for extra snacks so I had to place a gate on my porch. I noticed the dewlaps are not as "curious" as the...
My rooster is 3 years old silver-grey dorking. He does have some long spurs but I think that is his 5th toe. A friend showed me how to cut down the spurs but it is harder for me to do than what it looks. My dorking hen is sitting on eggs. She is also about 3 years old so I hope for some babies...
My poor rooster has been in molt since spring. :/ he went from looking at my avatar to that. Lol. He's a lot worst looking from the front view but he is camera shy and completely bald in front. Glad what feathers he has can do a "comb over".
Well had my goslings sexed- I have 3 males and 4 females in the grey Holderread's line and......my one buff....it's a girl :( The guy that did it just pressed on the back end- he said they are to hard to do vent sexing at the age- so going on appearance, coloring, and bone structure...that's...
I can tell by the shape of their heads on standard or production grey Toulouse but with dewlaps...I am only right half the time. Lol. Guess I would be in the same situation if I called them all males or all females or tossed a coin. Lol. Anyways- here is a photo of my one buff baby taken today...
Those are gorgeous! Some of them have a double- triple chin. Lol. :D I am so praying my one is a male. I have someone coming this weekend if the weather isn't too bad to sex all my goslings. Only one buff and 7 grey Holderreads. Please please please...be a male...lol
That's a great awesome idea with the lights...I sure will have to give that a try once I'm feeling better :D It gives the ordinary incubator box some show and tell. I been wanting to add a light but I never thought of that kind. Have you hatched in your incubator yet? I had like 3 sportmans but...
Does your incubator have lights in that Ankron? I was thinking of adding a blue light also because it would allow me to see in during the night without having the light so bright...what a great idea :) I don't have luck with those plastic turners...for some reason- they never make it past a...
Thanks so much for the info...I had a feeling they have attachment bonds with each other because they don't even go into the water without the other one going in. I may just get another pair so they can have more company. They do seem to enjoy being with my other ducks until they started flying...
I'm from Raeford, NC.
I raise the following: pair of Cuban Whistling Ducks, Black-Bellied Whistling duck (will have female soon ), khaki cambell (few light colored buff), grey dewlap toulouse (Holderread line babies), 3 buff dewlap toulouse (2 adult females and one I hatched from egg of...
