    Angry nesting goose

I have a female embden who seems to be the opposite of how people describe embdens. She's always been loud and aggressive but generally doesn't do any harm. But now that she's laying eggs she's become very aggressive, going after the chickens that aren't even near her nest and grabbing them by...

Brewers Yeast vs. Yeast vs. Niacin Tabs

It might be worth a trip down there just to check. I've called them asking for odd things that they claimed they didn't have by it turned out they did have it. Are you using organic pills? I wasn't aware that vitamin supplements came organic.

    Needle Felting

I do 3D figures. Usually little animals that I give away to friends. What do you usually make?

    Poo problems?

My ducks have pretty watery poop. They digest food quickly so their diet has a bigger affect on their poo than it would on say a dog or even us. As long as it's not like, a puddle of poop I'd say that's pretty normal to have watery poop.

Brewers Yeast vs. Yeast vs. Niacin Tabs

Do you have a Whole Foods by you? That's where I get mine. Most of those organic type food stores should sell it. You don't need to use organic brewers or nutritional yeast though. Whether it's organic or not makes no difference.

Will guineas eat fireflies or their larvae?

I was thinking about getting some guineas to control the ticks in my yard but I'm worried they'll destroy the very small firefly population that's left in my area. Their numbers shrink every year and I don't want to make it any worse. Any experience with this?

    Socializing ducklings?

Thanks. As soon as I try to pick one up she starts peeping like crazy and trying to get away. I think it's really just because they all want to be together and I'm separating them. I put them in a new house with lower walls - I'm hoping if they see me more they'll get more comfortable. I just...

    Duck Feed

I found this list of foods that are good snacks/supplements for ducks so I'd imagine anything on here would be fine. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/242460/the-ultimate-list-of-duck-treats-and-supplements I've heard that onions, garlic, leeks and chives aren't good for birds in general. I'm...

    Socializing ducklings?

I received 4 Welsh Harlequin ducklings on Wednesday which hatched Monday. I've been reading some conflicting information on socializing them and was hoping someone could clear it up for me. Right now the ducklings don't seem scared by my presence but run to the other side of the brooder when I...

Where can I get an Emu egg?

I don't know any places that ship a hatched chick but there are a few who will sell eggs including here on the forum and even ebay. The eggs do need a much larger incubator though. Maybe look around for an emu farm in your area. They could possibly hatch one for you if you're in driving...

    What breed should I get???

What qualities are you looking for in a duck? I was looking for a not skittish, good egg layer so I went with Welsh Harlequins. I was also looking at Anconas but couldn't find a place that would ship in small quantities.

    Stray chickens?

I live in an area without a lot of poultry farms or people keeping birds and had a chicken just show up one day. She was very healthy looking and decided that she liked our yard and wanted to stay. She used to lay eggs in the basement window wells. I could see a neglected chicken wandering...

    Essential Oils

It takes a lot raw material to make essential oils. Different oils need to be extracted in different ways too so if you wanted to extract say, lavender and clove oils you'd need to use two different methods and two different sets of equipment. That's why most people don't do it at home. This...

I'm finally getting ducks! Questions on feed...

I had chickens when I was younger but always wanted ducks. Now that I have my own house I'm getting a few =] I have a brooder all set up but when I took a trip to the only store on the island I can find that has feed I found they only have chicken or geese starter. I've read in a few places...
