    They should be fine. But it will be dirt within a week or so - they will destroy all the grass. Unless it's a really big area for just a few chickens.

    These were recommended for my daughter for her first year in 4H as easy to show. We bought 4 straight run. They are about a month old now and all 4 are still very white. When do you start seeing the red coloring? Even if these are all pullets, shouldn't they be starting to show some color...

    Yeah, we are just doing a small county fair = not even trying for state fair. It's her first year and so it's a learning year and we are playing with breeds. Next year we will narrow it down and spend some more money on quality birds.

    I bought 15 rarest of the rare and 15 heavy breeds from McMurray. So lots of chickens to guess on sex and breed.

    I don't know if he's going to be show quality - but I think my daughter may try and show him in her first year of chicken 4H. And then if he stays mild manner like it sounds like they do - he may get to stick around after fair. We had nasty roosters last year that would chase my 3 year old...
