    iwiw60, that was a thought but her crop seemed fine. It would be empty every morn and no foul smell or yeasty smell on her breath.

    I think it's kind of like leghorn. Over the years people have just ended up pronouncing it has "leggern". I believe it's those old farmers that got lazy in their speech and kind of slurred things together . No offense meant to any old farmers out there, that's just the way things have ended...
