Update, her belly is no longer raw and red, just bare and pink! I soaked her bottom to loosen up the dried on poop and worked it loose, she is looking soo much better, but not real happy with my messing with her. I am waiting for some of the recommended supplies to come in the mail since Tsc...
Is this something to be concerned about? Never seen poop with this yellow to it. From one of the three hens I just adopted this week from a rough situation. Also found some runny yellow stuff that looked like a really thick egg drop soup a couple places in the run.
So I just adopted some hens from someone on Craigslist who needed to rehome and didn't notice this issue until I got her home.
The white hen has very dark, near black stool or diarrhea stuck to her vent area. Her belly is completely red, raw, featherless and looks just awful. (Couldn't get a pic...
The gazebo is an octagon with 3 ft length sides so it is about 43 sq. Ft. The half covered rectangular run is 10 by 10 so 100 sq. Ft. So total space of about 140 sq. Ft. The tiny coop inside gazebo has two large nest boxes. Is it ok to let them roost on a 2×4 across the top of the prefab coop...
Thanks for the welcome and helpful guidance! Run is 100 sq. Ft, gazebo / coop is 45ish sq. Ft. They don't sleep in the itty bitty Amazon coop inside the gazebo, they just pile up on the roof and roost there. I plan to put up a long 2x4 that spans the full length of the gazebo since they seem to...
Oh boy... ok, thank you all! I will update when he gets bigger. Hopefully I can keep him in my small coop and run, tho I only have three pullets. I guess I probably need to get more hens? Or plan to separate him from the girls periodically?
"SweetCheeks" is 8 weeks old. French Black Copper Maran crossed over Blue Ameracauna according to breeder. Wattles are def making me think roo! The comb is still smallish but more red than what the pics show. A few copper feathers on the upper back / neck. Big, chunky feet but they are...
I have a 5 to 6 week old OE that is making me suspect she is a he. Is it too early? Wattles are starting to develop and look red/ pink. The comb looks more pink in person than how it shows up in photos. The feet are feathered but look chunky and buff underneath the fluff. She is very shy around...
