Learning what I can. Free Range birds. Now have 2 flocks. One has been around as long as I have. I grew up with it but was my mother who kept chickens. I didn't pay attention like I should have. This flock takes care of itself basically and I'm fortunate really to have them the way they are. Like a rock. Consistent and set your watch by them. But it is soooooo hard to penetrate their #'s and add new blood into their flock. Their will be bloodshed for it to happen. I've tried the see but no touch thru a screen. Various different ways and in different quantities to try and make it successful. Like I said. Bloodshed is it. Stare at each other a week then let them mingle. Bam! Immediately. Old flock has 3 powerhouse hens that almost run the flock 16 strong or basically do. Got 2 roosters in this flock. The boss rooster is fairly new. I know 2 years maybe lil more. #2 is no more than 8 months old and was the last introduction I made to the old flock and did so by not knowing anything. I just got them. Was given a roo so I just walked up and threw him in. I figured the other rooster and him would sort it out. I saved him later that day. Beat to pieces. Let him heal up for the night. Next day sent him back out for round 2. They finally worked it out on their own but I learned the hard way that that's not the way to do it. My new flock I've tried to integrate into old flock but its brutal
