    Broody Hen and Heat

Unfortunately, it is on the ground and not predator proof. Should I try moving her? We do have 2 outside dogs who do a fairly good job keeping critters ran off...

    Broody Hen and Heat

I have a hen sitting on a nest in the doghouse, of all places! It's quite a distance from the coop and the temps are in the 90s. Should I put water/food in the doghouse with her or is she likely leaving when I'm not paying attention?

    Momma leaves the nest....

Nope, no movement or sounds :( The others I could still see veins, large air sac, lots of dark area but no movement in those either.

I appreciate your response! Unfortunately no incubator :( These were our first broodies and it was a bit unexpected since they havent been laying long. Its been dark for a few hours now and she's snuggled up in the bottom of the coop with the other momma and babies. I think I have my answer

    Momma leaves the nest....

I recently had two hens go broody. The first went broody and then 5 days later her twin went broody also. We just had our first chickies hatch this weekend :) The first momma left the nesting box and hangs out in the bottom of the coop with babies. Somehow, one chick managed to hop boxes and...
