Totally inserting myself into this but I think that is great! We personally will be making our own food for our poultry when they are off of grower crumble and we hunt our own meat for our cat to mix in with some kibble just to be sure she is getting what she needs. We actually haven't tried...
Yeah rabbits don't need much pellets or sugary treats (like carrots n such).
But your situation sounds like mine! (save for I am the spoiled daughter) We now have 12 chickens, 16 rabbits, 12 geese, 6 ducks, 1 cat, and 1 gold fish but that is about to change because we just dug a new pet fish...
I don't know much about geese but my understanding is that both male and females get the knobs its just the males get bigger knobs. For the Chinese variety at least, I don't know of other breeds with knobs.
Okay so! I have not taken a picture of them now that they are fuzzy (I will soon!) but eight hatched out of 12. Sadly one died after hatching so we have seven living goslings. The last gosling to hatch also got it's head pecked or something while it was in the incu because it has a sore...
So at least four goslings have hatched! I am not entirely sure how many more though because the tiny and dirty incu windows are covered in water droplets because of the humidity spike the goslings caused.
Two were starting to zip when the incu fogged up so I am sure they are out (just can't see...
Four of the eggs have externally pipped and one is seemingly actively trying to get out! We had some goslings come in the mail today (along with ducklings) and it seems having one the goslings outside the incu to 'talk' to the ones on the inside really gets the unhatched goslings excited to get...
The humidity was a bit high because it rained all day so I let the humidity drop a bit and I candled a few eggs while I waited for the humidity to decrease a tad. All of the eggs are shadowing? And i'm pretty sure one has internally pipped, but I am not sure. But! One of the eggs that I could...
I wish my Govee actually worked x.x
I'm just using a window thermometer which seems to be accurate because all but one of my goose eggs are still moving and hopefully about to hatch. (this isn't with the incu in this thread btw, its an ancient Styrofoam one that while it holds a steady temp...
