after 25yrs of her owning chickens, i finally got my mom her dream breeds for christmas (silkies, frizzles) and they'll be coming in july. so excited! they'll be added to our current...
Insulation really isn't a necessity unless there are drafts for wind to blow through. Our barn has never been insulated, and the chickens have been fine. But, the one winter we let an open window stay open because we didn't have the material to fix it, we lost a record number of chickens that...
Being blind could certainly be a handicap, but there is every possibility that she will be able to live a happy and fulfilled life, even without being able to see.
If she just has dirt in her eyes, then flushing them out, like SquishyChick suggested, will definitely help. If she scratched her...
Recently, my family and I have decided to switch from manually feeding our chickens to leaving food out for them to eat in, say, a trough. I was wondering if anyone had any helpful ideas for the best way to do this. We have had a major problem with rats in the past, and don't want them to come...

Sometimes, if a chicken poops out blood, it could mean internal bleeding. Was your chicken injured recently in any way? Did she suffer any falls? When a chicken excretes blood, it's definitely not normal. It could just be a temporary thing, but better safe than sorry, eh? Good luck.
This sounds like a funny trait. One or two of my own chickens have done this, and they might just be looking at something. Chickens are strange creatures.
Oh, my gosh, this sounds really, really scary. I know nothing of this illness, unfortunately, but I do wish you the best of luck!
Have you tried looking the symptoms up on the Internet? Surprisingly, it's helped me a lot to do that.
