    Pictured is a surprise chick (little dark one) from a hatchery that we’re trying to figure out what breed/gender it is! It’s the same age (13 weeks) as the other chicks around it. A bantam of some sort? We may adopt him/her.

    Wounds on feet

    Just saw these wounds on a couple of my chickens feet. Does anyone know what these could be caused by? They have sand at the bottom of their coop but have been foraging recently. They are about 12 weeks.

    Common feathering pattern for a RIR?

    I wasn’t really sure where to post this so I’m sorry if this is not the right place. My RIR,who was purchased at a tractor supply, has silky feathers throughout her/his body. I haven’t really seen other RIR with silky like feathers all over. The only silky feathers on our one year old RIR...

    I’ll post a picture next weekend and see what changes they’ve made. They both have very sweet temperaments so far and are pretty inseparable. I would be fine with one of each.
