Here you go. A bit hard to see, but left leg is a bit swollen from the top as well. Not too crazy. I am giving her 0.5ml antibiotics twice a day and B Complex. Let's see how it goes.
Giving B Complex, but so far no progress. In the meantime, found something new! I've started a new thread, since this thread is getting old and probably fades away from where people look for new things. Or maybe I just don't know how this site works. At any rate, continuation is here.
I've asked about this girl earlier, but let me start a new thread, since we've found something new.
Basically, she stopped walking, but eats and drinks and shows no other signs of distress other than not walking. She uses her wings to move around. Gave her B Complex vitamins per suggestions...
Yeah, I think I'll let her swallow next time. She did not like the syringe. I've found a link with dosage here:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/the-ultimate-medicine-dosing-chart.64281/
But what you suggest seems reasonable and that's what I was also thinking of.
So now just need to...
Yes. That helps a lot! You have amazing insights. Thanks! I've found B-Complex in a local store, so crushed the pill, mixed with water and gave her a bit with the syringe. What is the right dosage? Dissolving and feeding the entire human-size pill seems a bit much. I've tasted it and it's not...
Thanks!!!
Wyorp Rock, it might be Coccidiosis, since she got exposed to older chickens in the backyard and might have picked up something from them. However, there is no bloody stool and mobility loss seems beyond what I see coccidiosis does. I gave her Corid last night but it seems I need to...
And the video link is here:
BTW, this is a Chocolate Star breed and she is 8 weeks old, not 6. Not that it matters...
On the first two pictures I am holing her in my hand, so that you can see her legs are just limp and helpless.
Will try to get vitamin B as was suggested above by Wyorp Rock...
Yes, she is eating starter feed. I don't know if I ever lost any chicks to Marek. Don't think so. I had an occasional unexplained death, but I don't think it was Marek. Working on posting pictures. Stay tuned. Almost there.
I will upload, but there is literally nothing other than her just sitting on the floor. No swelling, no resistance when I touch or move her legs. But also legs are limp and she is not resisting with them. Only with her wings.
She sits on the floor, uses her wings to limp between feeder and water. Eats OK, and does not show any other signs of distress. Just sits quietly in the corner and does not use her legs. This has been going for maybe 4-5 days now and she does not seem to recover. I've inspected her feet and...
I've looked a bit more for Lemon Cuckoo Neiderrheiner and for Orpington and Orpington looks like very good guess. Found this Orpington picture on the web that seems to be very similar.
Thanks folks!
When I bought it I was told it's Bielefelder, but it does not look like it (based on my Bing search, no experience:)). What do you think?
Maybe some mix of different breeds? She is about 2.5 months old and grows a bit faster than other chickens I have.
