I actually started feeding mash as a vehicle for adding a supplement and discovered they love it. I might have to go back to adding a supplement - or trace minerals - in their mash. Right now I just dump some dried herbs in there, stir it up, and add water. They go crazy for it usually.
Will you let us know if fermenting helps? I'm interested.
I add plain Greek yogurt in dollops on top of their mash once a week for probiotics. I have actually heard kefir may have more probiotics but haven't tried it.
I read on some thread here to give them plain rice with buttermilk (for...

I appreciate all advice and don't consider it preachy at all!
I am really hesitant to make my own food for this reason and just consider myself to be supplementing with fresh vegetables. I may be giving too much though, especially combined with what they might be getting in the yard. I just...
No blood, and it doesn't seem to be everybody. Yes, they eat lots of greens, which has caused this in the past. I'm cutting that back somewhat and watching a few carefully - except these holiday weekends are busy with family and I can't really tell everyone I've got to go sit with the chickens...
Thank you, that's good to know. The mash is 17 percent. I like the 20 percent feed - it's locally milled so very fresh. I'm just trying to figure out what's causing runny poops. I'm wondering if it's whatever they're getting out in the yard - they seem to be eating bugs and maybe seeds. It's...
