Thank you so much. We are doing our after snow clean up now, so will be using the BBQ pit ... I'll mix the ash with some potting soil. Where we are the 'dirt' is more clayish so soil added is necessary to grow anything very well, and probably a good idea for the babies!
Okay so a fine sand is not so good ... but we do have a bbq pit in teh yard. We're not allowed ot have a fire pit where I live so we don't ... we made it 38 inches and bought a grate to cook on ... voila, bbq pit LOL I can burn wood to make a nice dust bath out of wood ash.

My husband has actually drawn up plans to expend the run area out another 6 by 10 feet. Moving the door to the side and adding a small shade area and tower. Along with the feeder set up. i agree, they need MORE room to play.
