Update: I have had the hen in a separate containment run until yesterday. I opened the door to let her out to roam around my property. I came back to find her roosting on top of the door to the main coop/run. She wanted back in. So, I will be going home after work to see the results.

They are both Ayem Cemani. I do have an assorted 9 chickens, but those two are the same. I will post pictures later, im at work and shes hopefully resting at home.

I see a lot of comments to kill the roo. The thing is... he's been the best, most kind roo I've ever had. I don't see why he's doing this to 1 hen.

I have 1 splash ayem cemani roo, and 8 assorted hens. I've done nothing different with feed or space for a long time. Nothing like this has ever happened. Birds range from 1-3 years old

A friend of mine wants to give me one of his Cemani roosters. I'm a little concerned that when he breeds with my Rhode islands, sex links, & Americanas they will be poor egg layers.

Im pretty sure its the broken feather thing. They are all molting right now. One of the black sex links is looking almost bald in some places. But the Roo has 2 broken feathers that the other birds are pecking at.

I would think whatever was the killer came back to the scene of the crime last night. I threw my dead chickens leg in the cage and he went right in.

Really fortifying a run is pretty expensive. I am just going with regular chicken wire, an apron, netting for the roof. The coop should be very secure.
