Got him from the Easter Egger bin at the co-op. He is different than the other three EEs that came from the same bin, and folks on this site agree he is a male. About 10 weeks old. Don't want roosters. I am in Marysville, WA, 98270.
Here are a couple more pics I just took. Still think it's a male? Guess I was just expecting a much larger, more pronounce comb. The one I just gave away was huge compared to this one, and they were the same age. [/IMG]
Bummer. I have no desire for a male... 'He' was born at the beginning of March. I already gave away a male white leghorn that is the same age that already had a very pronounced male comb. Do EEs take longer to develop the combs? When would I expect to see the comb form, being that it is about 11...
Grabbed 4 chicks from Easter Egger bin. Three look the same, like the others I've had. Then there is this one. Can Easter Eggers look like her or any idea what she is?
Was told these were White Leghorns. Bought them March 9th, so about 6 weeks. Both chicks in pic are same age, way different combs. A little grainy, but you should be able to see the difference. If it is a male, I don't want it. Should I just put it for free on CL? Thanks for the help.
I haven't posted a whole lot, but I just wanted to say thank you to those that have answered questions for me regarding the building of the coop, suggestions regarding what to put on the floor of the coop, and all the other random things a first time chicken-raiser would research on this site...
Thank you all for your input! I appreciate your honesty and opinions, and can say that i really don't know what I'm going to do yet. Being impatient, I really, don't like the idea of the egg wait. However, I also don't want to get a potentially sick chicken or two, either... Anyway, thanks again!
I am just finishing up building a coop that has 40 sq. ft of hen house space (with three laying boxes), and two connected outside areas (one in a gravel carport and one in grass) at 60 sq. ft for each outdoor area. We have three chicks (all different breeds, but not sure sure which - they came...
