Help! 6wk ducklings refuse to come back to barn at night
Yup, frozen peas. Buy the biggest bag and shake it so they know the sound. And you dont have to give them a ton so the bag will last a couple of days (dont forget peas are high in niacin so they are great as an extra boost in it for the ducks) -

I thought that too, but the racoons i was battling were more clever than i had anticipated. Seems to be a common theme with them. It took a havahart trap with sardines and a game camera to confirm the perpetrators -

it was raccoons I have caught three and had video evidence, and have dispatched three that i caught. They found a way to get through the netting on top (so that was definitely the every point) of the pen so I had to put hardware cloth over the netting all the way to the top -

I would try a Havahart trap as well; if you can catch them yourselves maybe a racoon removal company will take them away for you cheap id call them first -

Since the double catch, i have had no indication of more. No feces, no one gong for the sardines, no one on video But staying vigilant. No one is going to live in those two pens until i hardware cloth all the way up to pole over the netting. Which i am starting tomorrow -

I am dispatching them and then incinerating them. I have fallen under the impression is more humane than relocating them where they'll just be eaten/killed. And disease etc I'm going to keep resetting/ watching the pen while the ducks are sheltering in the chicken coop until my pens are fully... -

I am working on the assumption there are more so until the pen is raccoon proof no one is living in it. I am going to reset the trap tomorrow and set my game camera up as well to see if anyone else comes around. This one canme around without the ducks there but definitely liked the cat food and... -
