Look for birds that have small combs and small wattles as the cold temps with frostbite them. If you are raising chicks, you will have l9ts of roos that you will have to.male a decision about. Are you going to want to butcher and put in the freezer.? If so look for bigger, meatier birds...

This is not an araucana. Araucanas are double tufted like this one, single tufted or clean faced. They have no other added feather.on the face like Americanas do.
I joined BYC probably 15 years ago when I was looking for araucanas chicks or eggs. I found some and my flock grew to almost 100 birds. I enjoyed them so much but then we moved to northern Michigan. I butchered a bunch of roosters, sold some and then moved with 41 keepers.
