Thank you! We did have lice, but we did 3 coop treatments and 3 chicken treatments and added diatamaceous earth. We don't see the lice anymore, but even when we had the issue, they were laying in the box. I am thinking it has to be connected to the heat. Thank you though! I just hate...
Thank you for checking! She passed away on Wednesday. She did live three weeks after I first posted, and we tried everything. She really seemed to be rallying and her neck improved, but then I found she had passed away in the run. All of our other hens seems okay, so I am hoping for the best.
Good afternoon! I am a new backyard chicken owner, and my hens have had some abnormal laying behavior this past week. I have two polish bantams (7 months) who have been laying 5 eggs a week consistently since June. They have almost always used their nesting boxes with one or two exceptions...
Thank you - I am going to get some pictures later this AM. My other hens are laying now, so I don't like to disturb.
For the questions:
Food: We are feeding an all flock feed since we have a mix of layers and non layers.
Puffy Right Side: When we feel it, it is all just feathers. We feel no...
I just wanted to thank you all! I moved where the water is inside the coop, added golf ball, and then we got a fan to circulate air when they are in the nesting boxes, and they are back to laying in the nesting boxes!
Good morning! We have a 3 month buff orpington pullet who has just been struggling. We got her about 9 weeks ago, and she always just seemed off. She slept a lot compared to the other chickens, and her body just didn't seem to match our other buff oprington. She also didn't seem to really...
Let me know if you have any success! I just changed out my nesting pads for pine shavings after my two laid this morning. Fingers crossed for both of us.
Thank you! I added my geographical location, and I just ordered a thermometer. Here are the pictures of our coop. The two sides that don't have windows have vents in the roof overlap. I couldn't get a picture of one of the sides bc it is right next to our garage with not a lot of space!
Haha! Thank you - they are driving me nuts! They are laying in the corner of the coop, so I am thinking if I can't beat them, join them. I may buy one of those pre-made nesting boxes and just put it in that corner!
Here are the images of windows. We have window on the other side above the chicken door to allow for cross winds. I live in Baltimore, but in the AM, temperatures have been 80 or below, so warmish but not terribly warm.
