Plan on maintaining 10 hens. Presently I'm at 8 pullets and 2 cockerels. The 3 pullets I bought the first week of June are still not integrated with the flock I raised from day old chicks- so thats a hassle being alleviated by removing one cockerel at a time.

Me: Retired 2 years ago. Just looking to fish, hunt, do a few road trips with my dog, eat a few fresh wholesome eggs and some truly organic chicken once in a while.
Oh, one more thing- I've learned that these birds are not mindless lumps of meat- as people led me to believe. Ive watched these cockerels place sentries at the two each- water and feed stations, to guard the resources from the trio I introduced a few weeks ago.
