    Post broody behavior check?

Thank you so much for the review !! I’ll try the fecal float. I’m happy to hear she’s going to be okay with her molt. It’s only 36 here at night at the lowest during the winter, so I feel better hearing your experience.

    Post broody behavior check?

Gwen was an egg laying machine until the weather changed in Phoenix and she got broody. She was still laying eggs daily and I can’t remember if she stopped before or after I kicked her out of the nest for 2 days to stop the brooding. It was causing a lot of fights since I only have one box for...

How to stop a female hen crowing?!

I have a very loud hen. I use a rooster collar but not tight. When she starts screaming for fun I tell her no and spray bottle her. After that she gets the silly Velcro collar and i fluff up all her feathers and this keeps her busy and the yelling stops. Over time it’s pretty effective! She’s...

Of all my tests, chickens seem to love standing on the wet stones the most to cool down. A+ tips here

    Omlet Eglu MK2 - Perches

I have the Eglu go with 2 hens and the 9ft run. I’d agree with others that the small tractor is a bit annoying especially for catching hens and changing water. But besides that I have a fan with built in mister the ‘misto’ that I run on one side and I’ve covered the half of the run and the...

Yes someone dumped them in the feed box in the dumpster by my sons school. He walks out of the parking lot there and heard the peeps! 😱

Topic of the Week - What is the purpose of your flock?

We are somewhere between discovering if this is doable and how do we just help these dumpster chickens! But I love watching and learning about them. They are very smart and unique. I like when they try to talk to us urgently sometimes 😆 Hoping they can contribute to eating a lot of bugs and...

Hi all, I’m new! . My son found two chickens in the dumpster by school. We’ve got an egglu that we’re turning into a chicken yurt to get through the AZ summers! 🥵

Poll Time: Cool the Coop & Chickens

I am using the misto brand outdoor fan and a canvas cover to make a chicken yurt. I added some of the silver insulation around the bottom area. It’s amazing how much cooler the air is in there and how it builds up over time to be sometimes nearly 30 degrees cooler than outside.
