Ideas for egg laying cross??? Help with genetics.

I couldn't find a whole lot on that and when I did it seemed like it was different colors. I'll keep looking. I know she would like the eggs from the welsummer but I'm not sure if they are heavy enough layers...

Ideas for egg laying cross??? Help with genetics.

Does anyone want to help me plan a fun cross??? I want to hatch some good egg layers for a friend and she already has red/buff birds and wants a different color for this year. I wouldn't mind getting her some fun egg colors if it wouldn't reduce egg production too much. Also possible is just...

Any guesses as to what breed (s) ???

I was kind of assuming some kind of mix but wasn't really positive.

Any guesses as to what breed (s) ???

Thanks! That fits. I was pretty sure I saw a big white duck in the mix somewhere.

Here's another pic of all that hatched so far.

Any guesses as to what breed (s) ???

The lady I got the eggs from didn't seem familiar with what she had and I didn't get to see all her ducks so I'm just curious. I've had 5 hatch so far. Other than the two pictured the bills are mostly dark but not really black. I have a couple with jet black feet, maybe one yellow and a couple...

    Two external pips???

I wasn't really worried about it. Just curious. :) I've hatched maybe 4 or 5 batches of guinea and chicken eggs and hadn't really seen this. It seems like they would pip once, rest, then the next "pip" would be when they started zipping. Just wasn't sure if ducklings had a quirk...

    Two external pips???

This is my first time with duck eggs and it seems like all of the eggs that have pipped have move a little and pipped again. Do duckling normally do this? It doesn't really seem like zipping yet.

    Did I kill my chick?

I'm not super experienced but my take is they can always surprise you. I'd leave them, especially the one that was moving and see what happens.

EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

There isn't any slowing of the mail service that I've noticed. I'm a substitute mail carrier and I've heard of a few things getting delayed but not a general slow down. My eggs got to me a day earlier than promised and the ones I sent to California did as well. I contacted one place that may...

EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I would like to never do shipped eggs again but I do have a breed I would like and no one close to me has them. :(

EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

It wasn't meant to be. It dies before I decided what to do.. Still had quite a bit of yolk left and could have never pipped from the position it was in. :( maybe the other one will make it that pipped out the side.

EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I've been studying the threads on assisted hatching and I just really need some insight. My other 5 chicks from my home eggs hatched last night. 1 of my shipped eggs pipped on the wrong end I think this morning and hatched this afternoon. Another one pipped and hatched almost normal. A third...
