    Strange!!! Did my rooster lay this egg?

    When one of our girls started laying she laid an egg like this! It was within the first week or so. From what I read it has nothing to do with diet, it just sometimes happens when the body is getting used to laying. All of our girls lay large eggs, hers ended up being jumbo-sized. Freaked me out...

    Refrigerated eggs experiment complete!

    We bought 14 eggs that had gotten chilled sitting out at around 45 degrees Fahrenheit. 4 never started to develop, 4 began developing but didn't make it, and 6 survived to hatching (and continue to thrive, almost one year later!) We ultimately ended up with four girls and two boys.
