This morning Rhode Island Red, almost 2 yrs old, didn't come out of the coop this morning. I looked in and she was fluffed up on her roost. I gave her an hour and went back out to check and she then jumped down and went into the nesting box. I went back and she was standing still, fluffed up. I...
Thank you for the reply. I've tried to create a new thread, but it would work for me, not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm on my iPhone, could that be the proble?
Don't mean to hijack your thread, I couldn't find out how to post this. I need help, I found these chickens or rooster in the neighborhood (hopefully owners will come forth). Any idea on age or breed? Could they have something that my hens could get if they are separated? I've got them separated...
Thanks everyone for replies. Yes, they were feed medicated chick starter. I don't think it was for a full 6 weeks. Oyster shell are now out of their feed. The reason I put it in their feed is because one of my hens was lay a soft shell egg once or twice toward the evening. And yes, it was same...
Thank you for the reply. I feed them Dumor layer crumble (which I'm switching to pellets because of the mess they make). I'm mixing in the oyster shells because the never seem to eat it when offered alone. They do free range all day and I lock them up at night. I noticed the change in poop when...
I have (4) 7 month old RIRs. They are all eating and drinking good, but they seem skinny. I can feel their breast bone when I pick them up. Several weeks ago I noticed their poop changed to a reddish brown, almost like it had blood mixed in it. I bought Wazene-17 from TSC. The guy told me it...
My RIR has been laying a double yolk in the mornings in her nest and two soft shell eggs in the evening out in the yard. Once, two soft shell eggs came out a minute apart. Yesterday, she layed her hard shell in the nest and only one soft shell toward evening, the other came after she was on the...
I'm glad I fould this post. I've been worried about my RIR. She has been laying a large double yolk egg in the mornings and in the evening two soft shell eggs. Once she layed the soft shells within a minute apart. She goes to the nest to lay the hard one but the soft shells she layes outside...
One of my RIRs about 6 1/2 mo old gave a double yolk egg a few days ago in the nest and a soft shell egg outside the day after. Well this morning she layed another large double yolk egg in the nest, but just now about 7 pm, plopped out a soft shell egg the others pecked it open before I could...
Kathy, thank you for replying. I think I finally found an avian vet, not close, but if it's what I have to do, I will. They are all eating and drinking normally. Two days ago, I had one that closed her right eye and then started acting lethargic, but would perk up w/food and water. I brought her...
I didn't mean to barge in on this tread, I'm newish and had problems with one of my RIR two days ago and never got a response. I may be doing this all wrong. I've not wormed them, but never seen any worms or problems before.
Can someone look at my pics of poop to see what they think, please. The are acting fine now, they are about 6 1/2 mo old. Any info/thoughts would be great.
