    OEG toenail colour

I have a number of standard size Red/Black OEG. Some of this year's youngsters have black toenails, some have grey toenails and some have white toenails. What is the correct toenail colour for this breed?

    Blue Laced Red Old English??

Just found your post. Here is a pic of my laced blue/red OEG cockerel. He is standard size not bantam. He's taken a while to colour up but starting to look good now. The parents had a bit of spangled Hamburg 3 or 4 generations ago. (just if you are still interested)

    OEG yellow legs

I have just acquired four Old English Game (fowl not bantams), a common partridge variety. One cockerel and one pullet have yellow legs , the other cockerel and pullet have darker legs (sort of a dark olive or slate). Can someone tell me what is the correct colour for this variety of OEG?

    Pullets with dark purple combs

All the pullets from this cross have the same colour comb not just this one. Will be interesting to see if any stay the dark colour. :)

    Pullets with dark purple combs

Thanks for your prompt replies. I had never heard of gypsy face before. I am encouraged that the wattles have developed a red colour in the last week. Maybe the comb will change too.

    Pullets with dark purple combs

I have been raising some cross bred chickens which are now 4-5 months old. The pullets all have dark purple combs whilst the cockerels have red like their parents. They are offspring from a Silver Spangled Hamburg rooster and an Old English Game bantam hen. The pullets all seem extremely...

    Backyard fancier from New Zealand

Just got myself into gear and registered. I live in New Zealand and have recently downsized from 6 acres to a 1 acre block. I started keeping chickens around 40 years ago when I moved out to a rural area. I have had to reduce my flock and get rid of my ducks, geese, guinea fowl and pheasants as...
