Hi BYCers! I was wondering, how long can eggs stay warm under a hen (and still be viable) before you collect them for incubation? When does development start? I had a hen that just went broody. 6 week old chick with lump in vent!!!

Thank you everybody for your helpful responses! :) @cavemanrich; as far as I'm aware, there hasn't been any moulting going on. And you said: I though sprouted wheat was very high in protein... I was actually worried they may be getting too much protein. One of my girls walks a bit awkwardly...- leia_and_friends

My Faverolles girl is the sweetest thing... except for at 6:00 in the morning when she decides life is not revolving around her enough. Changing chicken feed: a horror story
Thank you for this useful warning. I have a special powdery feed that's the best in my hatchery's store - I do notice that my girls pick out the corn bits first, and don't seem to be too excited about the rest.
