Just to let anyone who helped us out know, our hen had mareks and we ended up having to put her to sleep. very sad, but she was in a bad way.

We are still not 100% sure. We are keeping her inside & well looked after and she has not got worse. I figure if she deteriorates despite our efforts then its got to be that. Will keep you posted. Thanks again for your help.

Hmmn odd! Well I do have a tendancy to pick the unusual/mad animals that defy the rules so hopefully our little hen will live up to this. She wont sit on the wheat bag now, flatly refuses. So I'm leaving her to her own devices and praying that when i get back from work theres an egg.

Not yet, the vet said to give her 24 hours then call back. She wasnt a chicken specialist im not sure she really knew what was wrong! I'm concerned, i leave for work soon so cant even keep bathing her or reheat the wheat bag today! Wherever i have looked on the net said egg bound hens wont eat...

We went to the vets about 15 hours ago. The vet said there is an egg, it isnt broken and has a shell. She gave her some oxytocin, nothing has changed!?! We have continued with baths & wheat bag. We feel even more helpless and confused, she cant be egg bound surely its been too long and she...

She still hasn't laid an egg despite 4 baths and sitting on a wheat bag, in fact now she looks less like shes going to. I have phoned the vet who said she cant help over the phnoe so we are taking her in.
