Heavens it's crazy how fast birds can change in the blink of an eye! I've got these two Egyptian Fayoumis (Amethyst and Lapis) that I hatched in June. The first pic was sometime in September and I took the second one today. Those combs and whatnot came outta nowhere! I love these two gals and...
All three in this pic were roos. I kept two and gave 1 to a friends bachelor flock. They're all grown up though and I've hatched some of their lil chicks they've helped create. ^^ The one that hatched from the Petaluma ones turned out to be a hen.
eeee nope they were just a regular ole carton of open natures heirloom eggs! I also got my dad to send me some of petalumas rock island ones from CA and hatched one of those. ^^ Julian date on this carton pictured though was April 26th and they went in the incubator May 6th. Sorry for the late...
Lol I came to this post hoping this would answer my questions. I guess it's good to have an idea of how often per week they may lay. I knew they didn't lay a lot per yr but wasn't sure how often they'd lay during a week.
I hatched two Egyptian fayoumi eggs in June. Two hens. Their combs just...
Ugh I've run into this thread solely because of this and it's ridiculous...I also found out on top of applying as a nest run producer I have to get a food handlers license. (fair) And indeed not use any cartons with other brand markings. The inability to use fresh and local is ridiculous. Plus...
Good! I actually just adopted another dove recently! and more chickens aha. Another Eurasian collared dove though. Came to us with a broken wing. :( Named it Obsidian and we've got the vet booked asap. How have you been? ^^
Well so far so good. Cold turkey'd the chick feeder and they're all doing fine with the big one now..nice not having to refill so often.
And no..not rodent proof. To be honest I don't know a feeder that is but the squirrels seem less keen to try and climb into this one and I'm slowly working...
How does one get chickens to change from one style feeder to another? 😭 I can't get them to stop using a chick style feeder.
They went from one of those basic red ones as chicks to this blue one that has the legs. Now that they're all 8-12 weeks old and living out in the coop I'm trying to get...
This post gives me a ton of hope for the eggs I've got incubating atm!:) My dad shipped me 2 dozen eggs he got locally at my request. The post office fumbled though, and had them a little too long. Got them the other day and majority are really porous. :( Fingers crossed though. I've got a lotta...
How would that be possible? I assume I'd have to have other hens to raise the young ones? If so not possible as I just started my flock. ;w; and we live in the desert. I can't say I'm comfortable with the idea
