The plug is up high enough that it can get wet even if all the water spilled. Thanks for replying. They all made it through the first might and everyone is looking good!
So I messed up and put my buff and jubilee orpington chicks in the same brooder. They hatched this week. How long until I can tell which are buff and which are jubilee?
I am planning putting eggs in tomorrow but my little giant incubator is all over the place regarding temperature. I increased the set temperature to 101.4. I put 3 other thermometers in there to compare. My incubator read 101.3. The thermometer lying right next to the incubator thermometer...
The orpingtons are in a round pen with a circumference of approximately 4.5 feet and 4 feet high. After reading some of the comments, I have decided to try having a "girls" coop and putting the boys in with my mixed flock for a few weeks to get my girls clear rather then dividing the pairs and...
Are these lavender roo and hen pure lavender? Is this hen black or chocolate or mixed? I love my orpingtons, but I'm trying to understand the coloring genetics because I'm getting ready to separate them to breed.
These are my lavender orpingtons. Do they look pure? If so, then the black hen should go in with them? I also uploaded a picture of because she is not really dark so also maybe not pure.
I am dividing ny orpingtons for breeding. I have a pair of jubilee orpingtons, a pair of buff orpingtons, and a pair of lavender orpingtons (although I'm not sure the lavender are pure as the rooster looks like he might have some buff mixed in). I also have one black orpington hen. I'm not...
I am trying to separate my chickens into breeding pens. I have a trio of bantams in the brooder box. I have an Easter egger rooster with 3 hens in the puppy pen with poultry netting on top. I am putting an orpington trio in the round pen with the tarp. Does anyone see any problems with...
I has another go broody this morning. What's craxy is this is not the coop I was planning on hatching chicks from. I have eggs in the incubator from both my other two coops and then this happens. I'm going to be overloaded I'm afraid. Lol. I can't wait to see how this all plays out.
My guinea went broody and the next day 2 hyline brown chickens sat down with her. One has since moved to another nesting box but is still sitting. Is this normal? Will they stay broody for the length of the hatch? I thought hyline browns were not likelt to go broody and now suddenly I have 2?
