I am curious if anyone out there has any experience with jubilee orpingtons? I am curious if the roosters are really as mellow as I have read and also if they can tolerate North Carolina summers?- lianamac

Thank you so much. The pictures are really helpful. These are hopefully females. They are black copper marans. So when you say too dark do you mean not enough copper and too much white will give you too much copper?- lianamac

I just received a group of day old fbcm chicks and they have different amounts of white/cream on them. One has very little. Is it a bad idea to paint a chicken coop red?
I am wondering if it is bad to paint my chicken coop red? I have 2 roosters and have noticed that one gets pretty riled up and attacks me if I wear a red coat into the chicken pen. I have to finish painting their coop, which is inside their pen, which means they will be able to see the color...- lianamac

That's too funny! My 2 maran roosters do exactly the same thing! Except they will actually both mate with the poor hen, but the secondary rooster is polite and stands by and waits his turn! I love these boys! They are not very aggressive with me either. The most they do is occasionally peck me...- lianamac
