"According to the bill, it does not apply to a person who keeps or raises roosters for the purpose of food production, a public or private school registered with the state, a government-operated animal shelter, a nonprofit animal welfare organization or the Future Farmers of America or the State...
I agree! I've got some young EEs and this was really the tip off that I had a Cockerel.
This photo is of Kuro, my one Cockerel. You can see he's got much different coloring front to back, bigger comb, and if you look closely he's got red on his wings. I think the crucial point was the red came...
Hello all!
I have a sweet 10 wk old Easter Egger Cockerel named Kuro. He's already a good leader looking out for the pullets I've got, and I think he's pretty to boot. I'd keep him but I can't have a rooster in the city so he's got to go. If I can't rehome him before he starts crowing he's...
They're all beautiful! My EE roo is only about 10wks still, but so far he's friendly, inquisitive, and calm. No rooster behaviors except that he seems to be the most confident of the 3. I'm actually disappointed that he's gotta go, I'm sure he'll be lovely.
My understanding is that EE roosters...
I'm new to this too, but that first picture shows a pretty pronounced sickle feather or two on it's (his) tail. I don't think you ever get that with hens
That looks like a cockerel to me for sure!
I'm new to this too, but here's why I think so
- big comb
- varied/patchy coloration with red on the wings
- clear droopy long saddle feathers
- feathers on neck look long and pointy
- I think I can make out sickle feathers in one photo but a full...
Hello all!
I have lost the chicken lottery and gotten one cockerel in with my pullets. I'm in town so I can't have a rooster. If anyone in the bay area wants a cockerel or knows someone who will take him please let me know. I can drive him to wherever he needs to go if necessary.
His name is...
I'm curious what specifically says "cockerel" about the first bird; I have my own theories but I'm interested in other people's thoughts.
The second bird (Aka) doesn't have a comb, it's just kindof a bare patch of skin
Wow! Those birds are really pretty. That's a lot of photos to go through and it looks like you have some dupes, could you edit your post to mark the birds/pictures with numbers so we know which bird is which?
Hello all! I have three birds that were born probably about March 12th ish, so they're about 6 weeks old now. They were sold as Americaunas, but as I bought them from a store for about $8 each I assumed they were Easter Eggers.
However, now i have some questions. The two I'm sure are pullets...
