I caught one the other 4 week roos pecking at my special boy today. He list some feathers on his head and his eye is watery...at least he got him in the eye that was blind...he's now separated and resting, but still next to the others. I'm worried if I keep him with extra females if they will...
My little guy is still hanging in there. His neck is still twisting sometimes and he walks backwards and gets it in place again. He eats and drinks with his head completely upside down...weird, but interesting. He's a little smaller than the others but still very plump.
Not really sure what to do with this little quail now. I've grown pretty attached to it and wouldn't be able to eat it...even though my husband thinks we should. His neck is still the same but I've noticed when he relaxes, his head turns completely upside down. When this happens he walks...
I looked at its breast today and it's a boy! He has the spots on the edges nut the breast feathers are solid rust. Now I need a good strong name for him! It works out bc I want to keep some extra girls from my meat pen just for extra eggs to eat. So he can have his only ladies, I just won't...
Well he's still hangin in there. I'm almost 100% sure he's blind in the eye facing up but it doesn't slow him down! I just have to pick him up from that side. Lol. I call it a 'he' but I'm still not sure!
Update....She seems better. Eating and drinking normally but not wanting to walk around very much. Poop is normal. But she hasn't being laying since all of this happened. I'm thinking she must of hit her head or something
She's still the same. Her wings only droop when she's walking...She seems to lose her balance easily. She usually freaks when I open the cage so for her to be sitting on me is a big deal...I have her isolated right now with a vitamin and electrolyte mix in her water. She's drinking but I haven't...
My little 12 week old tuxedo has been acting funny since yesterday afternoon. She's puffed up and looks like she's trying to poo but never does. ..no discharge or breathing issues, still eating a little and drinking. I picked her up and she let me, which is not normal! Nothing broken or cut on...
You think this is genetic or something that went wrong during incubation? I found it strange that I set 14 of my a&ms and had 13 hatch healthy. ..and out of 15 shipped jumbo brown eggs only 3 hatched out, with this one being special.
I'm a concerned about little crooked neck now. I've figured out he's blind in the eye that faces up/out and relies on the one that's slowly curving more to ground bc of his neck. I can wave my hand all around the eye facing up and he never flinches...but as soon as go on the other side he freaks...
Pretty bad...I'm already planning on having an extra quail coop just for this one and a few friends...lol, my husband thinks I'm absolutely nuts! I need a good name for it. Guess I should wait until I figure out if it's a boy or girl first though. Does anyone have any pics of their adult birds...
