Peking ducks. 2 male, 1 female. They roam where the want, and she tends to just drop her eggs in random places. Lately they have all been in the same general vicinity though. Typically the eggs are all white. They spot does wipe away when scraped with a fingernail.
I can post a photo later, but the last 2 duck eggs I collected had a blue/teal dot (almost looked like somebody took a fine tip marker and put a dot on the egg shell). It was on the top of the egg as it lay there. Any clue as to what this might mean?
Ideas how to break a broody chicken. We couldn't break it, so we out eggs under her that should hatch soon. Once they hatch, I would like to break the broodiness. She is a buff Orpington. Ideas?

I put it to my ear and it was silent. Had been moving. Now it's not. I will keep it going until tomorrow evening. I can't bear to do eggtopsy. Not yet anyway.

Well I have 2 hatched. And one hasn't even pipped yet. I don't really see any movement either anymore. It is day 22 today

My first chicken hatched last night!! There are two more eggs that had been rockin and Rollin but have gone still this morning. No pipping yet. One might be moving very slightly. But that might also be caused by the little chick.
Any advice on waiting time would be great!
And when do I move...
Earlier this year I tried hatching duck eggs. The 4 of 11 that made it through to lockdown, died before even pipping.
