I don't have personal experience but I have been wanting some of my own.....if you do get them I'd pay for some fertilized eggs!! if there is a roo in the lot ;)

Well....the husband and I butchered 9 of our 11 cockerels today. I'm a little sad not to see them running around the yard with the girls...but it's nice to know I have lots of chicken for the freezer. I think we did a pretty good job considering we had never done it before. By far the worst part...
I have a couple of Roos and matching pullets and I'm unsure of breeding. Also not sure if my Cochins are definitely male or not. Thinking they are. Here are some photos. Please ignore the red paint. Buggers got too close while the coop was wet :P they are 14 weeks I believe. Thanks for your help.
Rock farming! a fabulous term ;) thankfully we didn't have to do too much of that here...propped the coop off the ground with pavers, it took us about 3 hours to get them level. Made the coop itself out of pallets so most of it was free lumber. I have 3 doms and they are fabulous little pullets...
thanks! I love the color....I love all color. Thankfully my hubster is trained pretty well and lets me do just about whatever I want :P ie: hun I just ordered 28 chicks and his response was...where do you want the coop? *snicker*
love the use of space! will make it easy in the winter for sure. My coop is coming along, still have some final touches to finish before winter. Just did a bunch of painting yesterday and made curtains and hung them up today. I hope to have the trim up by next week. Here is a photo of the front...
thanks all! The hubster was a bit dubious about my decision to make a "pallet coop" but I think that it has turned out pretty well so far. Can't wait until it's completely finished though!
So far I have identified 1 Cuckoo Marans roo and 4 pullets, 3 Dominique pullets, 2 Black Langshan roos, 1 white Langshan roo and one pullet, 2 Partridge Cochin that I suspect are both roos, 2 Dark Brahma pullets, 1 Goldlaced Wyandotte roo and 1 pullet, 3 Buttercup pullets, 1 Salmon Faverolles...
Newish here :) I live in standish and have a variety of chicks from the McMurray rare of rare package. 27 total. All but 4 are 16 weeks old. Just moved them into the new coup and they seem to be happy. Currently trying to figure out exactly how many pullets vs cockerels as well as what breeds I...
Super excited for my chickzees. Moved them into their new digs. The coup is 8x10 and the attatched run is 8x8. I still have some roosts to put in (this weekend) and cosmetic stuff to do ie: paint, trim, curtains, etc. but they seem happy as is.
