No, no idea. I really didn’t examine her, just too sad and at this point doesn’t matter. But such is life. I learned a lot from her being here and made several new friends in this area because of her.
One of them being the folks at Epic Missions. I think they will do good there.
Just wanted to let you know that Irma was attacked and killed this morning. Lost her and 13 eggs. But Epic Missions will still take some of the other ducks for us. Thanks for all your advice. Wish things could have ended differently.
She’s on them tonight. So I guess she’s through laying. I just assumed she was done when she started sitting on them during the day. I’ll count the eggs tomorrow. Do you eat duck eggs? I’d like to try them but hesitant.
She started sitting on them all day on Friday but still leaves them and sits by or in the pool at night. Seems strange to me. Last time she sat almost 24/7.
Yeah the mission is a really nice place with good people, so I’m excited.
Funny you ask, so, when she first started laying I decided to take them because I thought it would make her leave my yard and go somewhere else to hatch her eggs. It didn’t take long to find out that that is not true. She just moved to another shrub in the yard. So her first nest had 5 eggs...
Yes, today I found “Irma” a home. I won’t be taking her until after the babies hatch, which will be a while because she is still laying. The place is called Epic Missions. They have several ponds with plenty of cattails and reeds to keep her from predators. They are not a rescue but they have...
If she would stay behind the shrubbery she would be safe, but she won’t. She stays out in the open by the pool. I’m keeping the lights on for her but I don’t know if that’s the right thing to do or not. ♀️♀️♀️
Thanks. I read that moving the eggs aren’t ideal. But I’m going to give them a call because she wasn’t able to fly back to the lake again tonight. It’s only a matter of time before something gets her here.
I feed her a 4 grain cracked corn mixture (feed store recommended) a little bit of dried crickets and meal worms and eukanuba dog food in the morning (about a half a cup) but mostly she forages throughout the day. I also keep fresh water for her.
